Your Face
Chapter 8
By Crystal

The next day both Doctor Green and Lynn met up to converse about the recent developments.

"I printed out a chart of Georgia's brain activity. What do you make of it?" asked Dr. Lynn as she handed the chart to him. He looked it over and shook his head.

"This is amazing. Look at Nick's." He handed her Nick's brain wave chart and she gasped. "They're nearly identical."

Paul looked at her quizzically. "I have a theory Mary."

She looked up at him and cocked her head to the side. "You can't possibly be suggesting that… Are you?"

"I'm suggesting that these two are having some sort of dream world experience about the same thing, possibly together."

"Do you know how impossible that sounds Paul?"

He shook his head and looked down at his notes. "Come with me for a minute. I have a few questions to ask the Carters." Mary followed him to Nick's room where Jane and Bob Carter were taking vigil beside their silent son.

"Bob, Jane. This is my colleague, Mary Lynn. She is Georgia Reynold's doctor."

"Who?" asked Jane as she shook Dr. Lynn's hand.

"Georgia Reynolds. She was the other victim in the accident."

"Oh. I see."

"Mister and Misses Carter, are you aware of any type of relationship between your son and Miss Reynolds?"

Bob and Jane looked at each other, both obviously wondering what the doctors were suggesting. "As far as I know they're perfect strangers. Why would you ask?"

Paul Green and Mary looked at each other. "Would you take a look at these please?" he handed them each a chart. Bob and Jane looked at them.

"What are these?" asked Bob.

"Do you see a relationship between the two charts?" asked Dr. Green. Bob and Jane looked at both charts.

"They appear to be almost identical. What are these?" asked Jane.

"One of these is the brain wave chart of Georgia Reynolds. The other is of your son, Nick."

Both parents looked at each other and the doctors in complete shock. "What on earth does this mean? Is this even possible?"

"Doctor Green has a theory that the two are in some sort of dream state, both having the same dreams, or close to the same" explained Dr. Lynn.

"With your permission, I'd like to place the two in the same room together and keep them under close surveillance. This is something we have never witnessed before and it might be worth the while to check it out."

"What exactly do you have in mind?" asked Bob.

"Doctor Lynn and myself would like to put Nick and Georgia in the same room to closely monitor their brain activity and behavior. I realize that this is dangerous as both patients are in a very critical condition, but in the end we could possibly have some very interesting answers in our hands. I won't proceed unless I have your explicit permission."

"Give us a moment please." Doctor Green nodded his head and left the room alongside Dr. Lynn as Jane and Bob conversed.

"Do you have any idea what kind of publicity this would cause should this information leak to the wrong people?" questioned Mary.

Paul shook his head. "Yes. That's why it must be kept as quiet as we can make it."

"I'm just glad you realize how dangerous this can be."

"I do. But if there is a connection between two complete strangers, such as there appears to be between Nick and Georgia, then we have a medical breakthrough on our hands."

Mary nodded her head, agreeing with him. The door opened then and the two doctors look at the Carters.

"We have agreed to let you do it. But I want to be guaranteed that my son will continue to get the best medical care possible," said Bob.

Doctor Green nodded his head. "You have my word. We will get started immediately."
